In accordance with Federal law and the U.S. Indiana's SNAP is designed to raise the nutritional level of low income households by supplementing their available food purchasing dollars with food stamp coupons.
In Indiana, the Family and Social Services Administration is responsible for ensuring the Federal regulations are initially implemented and consistently applied in each county. Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Services develop Federal regulations that govern implementation of the program. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is a 100 percent Federally funded program, which is administered through each state.
